B & B | Elegant Suite
in the Heart of Modena
A charming retreat where History meets Design
Stella 21 is a spacious and bright open-plan apartment offered as a Bed & Breakfast, located in the heart of Modena’s historic center.
Set in an elegant period building, the space harmoniously blends vintage and contemporary elements, creating a refined and welcoming atmosphere.
The result of a meticulous restoration project – born from the collaboration between interior designer Catia Baccolini and owner Francesca Orlandi, a restorer and interior decorator – Stella 21 stands out for its essential yet comfortable style, embodying the character of a true maison de charme.

An intimate stay experience
The entire apartment is designed to offer an intimate and refined stay, with careful attention paid to every detail.
The light wood parquet flooring creates a warm, relaxing atmosphere – ideal even for moments of yoga or meditation.
Guests can enjoy a well-stocked library, along with a regularly updated guide to the city’s most interesting events.
A central location to explore Modena
The B&B’s central location — right across from the renowned Osteria Francescana — makes it the perfect starting point for discovering Modena and its many wonders: the Ducal Palace, home to the Military Academy; the Cathedral (Duomo) and Piazza Grande (a UNESCO World Heritage Site); the Estense Gallery; and the Enzo Ferrari Museum.

Modena
My tips
Local cuisine of excellence
In the historic centre of Modena, right in front of the Stella21 B&B, there is the famous Osteria Francescana, owned by the well-known chef Massimo Bottura. Within the historic centre there is also the restaurant l’Erba del Re, of the Le Soste collective, as well as some historic trattorias such as Ermes and l’Aldina.
For the purchase of typical local products we recommend the Mercato Albinelli, housed in the original wrought iron structure, dating back to the early twentieth century.
Not to be missed for lovers of gastronomy is a trip to the vinegar producers around Modena: here you can discover all the secrets of black gold, the traditional balsamic vinegar of Modena.
Attractions in the surrounding area
Thanks to its particular position, Modena is the ideal starting point for visiting other cities such as Bologna, Verona, Mantua and Ferrara, as well as offering the possibility of attending large local events with ease.
It will be possible to visit Verona to enjoy one of the many opera events in its beautiful Arena. Choose to visit Ferrara with its Estense Castle or Mantua home of the Literature Festival and overflowing with Renaissance artistic beauties. A short distance away, there are also Reggio Emilia, home of Parmigiano Reggiano, Parma (known as the green city (?)) and Ravenna, candidate for European Capital of Culture in 2019. The many other splendid destinations in the area that can be easily reached from our B&B in the centre in Modena, will make every stay truly unforgettable.
International Fairs
Also thanks to its strategic position, Modena is chosen as the starting point for participation or visits to the main international fairs that are held in the surrounding area. Il Cersaie (Bologna): International exhibition of ceramics for architecture and bathroom furnishings, Cosmoprof (Bologna): the world’s leading trade fair for the beauty industry, Arte Fiera (Bologna): International fair of Modern and Contemporary Art, Il Sana (Bologna): International Exhibition of Organic and Natural Food, Vinitaly (Verona): international wine and spirits exhibition, ArtVerona (Verona): modern and contemporary art fair.
The Modena area and its attractions
Modena hosts numerous historical attractions of great importance, as well as many attractions linked to its long tradition in the world of car manufacture and Formula 1. The historic centre is home to three UNESCO heritage sites: the Cathedral (Duomo), the Ghirlandina Tower and Piazza Grande. The Palazzo Ducale (seat of the Military Academy) and the Palazzo dei Musei are also of considerable artistic and cultural interest, both of which can be easily reached starting from the B&B.
Motor Valley
For lovers of the car and motorcycle world, there are many attractions. Car production companies such as Lamborghini, Maserati, Ferrari and Pagani, all within the local area, often have associated museums. The MEF (Museo Casa Enzo Ferrari) was recently built in the centre of Modena, dedicated to the life and works of Enzo Ferrari.
Theaters, exhibitions and events
Modenese cultural activity is really lively and meets the most disparate tastes.
The city theatres (Teatro Comunale L. Pavarotti and Teatro Storchi) offer interesting productions and are located a short distance from the bed and breakfast.
For lovers of the visual arts, we recommend a visit to the Estense Gallery, the Photography Foundation, and the Civic Gallery. Those who love contemporary art or the world of pop culture can visit the Emilio Mazzoli Historical Gallery of Contemporary Art, the very recently opened San Paolo complex (formerly the church of San Paolo and the Sala delle Monache) or visit the Museum of the Figurine.
Every year, in September, Modena hosts the Philosophy Festival, which attracts exceptional personalities from all parts of Italy and the world. In addition to philosophical events, numerous collateral events are organized in the city, such as art exhibitions, concerts and public installations.
